Creative Spotlight: Wee Walk for Clyde’s Hope

It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to post something I’ve been working on. Busy is an understatement these days since I’m in the final stretch of my second pregnancy and baby is due in just a couple of weeks! So there has been a LOT of designing and getting ready for baby going on, and don’t forget I have a 3 year old to boot!

One of my good friends, and client, Susan Verucchi of Clyde’s Hope, runs a non-profit organization providing education and assistance to hospice patients and their families. She is a force to be reckoned with and always seems to find a way to help families in need during such a difficult time.

Signature Worx has pretty much designed everything for Clyde’s Hope from their logo to their website and everything in between. When Susan is planning an event, I’m her first call to collaborate with and begin designing whatever she needs from event logos to the event t-shirts, flyers, and banners.

Next month, Clyde’s Hope is catering an event just for children to help raise much needed money for the organization. Susan asked me to design a logo for the Wee Walk which I happily did for such a great event.

The 1st Annual Clyde’s Hope Wee Walk will take place on April 25, 2009. Registrants, age toddler to 6 years old, will raise money for the event and then participate in a walk where they will receive a medal upon completion. The event will be filled with other activities as well. Check out their website for more details.

potofgoldOh yeah, they also have a “Pot of Gold” raffle going on now through March 17, 2009, where one lucky winner will receive ½ the pot of gold of all raffle tickets sold. The other half will help provide for the needs of hospice patients. You can purchase your tickets through their website by clicking on the little leprechaun.

June 2007 Business Spotlight: Jaime Lee Mann

Besides being a business partner and co-founder of our latest venture with Visionary VAs, Jaime Lee Mann is also one of my clients. I reserved this month for her because in addition to being an outstanding virtual assistant, a business partner you could only imagine in your dreams, a wife, and a mother, she is also expecting another child—well any day really—and she still manages to do it all. She is the Super Mom we talk about and wish we were. I am proud to call her my business partner, my friend, and my client. And if all that isn’t reason enough to sing her praises, she was just named the recipient of the 2007 Janet Jordon Achievement Award a few weeks ago.

Jaime Lee Mann Mann Made Time

As an administrative assistant, Jaime had no trouble finding work, but every job she was hired for ended up being a term position. She held several different upper-level administrative positions, including real estate office assistant, scheduling administrator of a business college, office manager of a non-profit organization as well as a real estate office. She loved what she was doing but was tired of the unpredictability of working for other people. When she became pregnant with her first child, she knew she would not be able to return to the “corporate world” after the baby was born and her maternity leave ended. She started researching ways that she could supplement her income, and came upon the VA industry. Having already considered freelancing as an administrative assistant, she immediately knew this was the perfect fit for her—but it was an amazing feeling to discover an actual industry full of people doing just what she’d imagined! Jaime has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and her years of providing administrative assistance gave her a huge pool of experience to draw from. Read more

Connie McVicker Nominated for the Janet Jordan Achievement Award

There is only one word to describe what I am felling right now…WOW! I was just notified that I have been nominated to receive the 2007 Janet Jordan Achievement Award presented by the Online International Virtual Assistant Convention (OIVAC). The award honors a newcomer Virtual Assistant who has been in business for less than 2 years and has reached a milestone in their short career in the industry. This milestone needs to be an accomplishment that has helped to boost their new business to an overwhelming success.

It is extremely humbling that my peers, people I work, collaborate, and share with every day, have nominated me for such an honor. It sincerely means a lot just to be nominated and I personally thank those, from the bottom of my heart, who took the time to submit a nomination for me.

Janet Jordan, who passed away in January 2006, was a recognized industry leader in the virtual assistance field. Mrs. Jordan’s virtual assisting career began in 1980, long before the term “Virtual Assistant” was coined. Along with running her private VA practices which included clients who spanned the globe, Mrs. Jordan also trained aspiring entrepreneurs to launch their own up-to-the-minute, compelling and relevant virtual assistant practices through Virtual Assistance U. Jordan created future leaders in the VA industry.

The OIVAC Judging Panel for the Janet Jordan Achievement Award consists of experienced Virtual Assistants from around the world. The winner will be honored during the International Virtual Assistants Day (IVAD) event which will be held online May 18th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm EST. The celebration coincides with a three-day Online International Virtual Assistants Convention (OIVAC) scheduled for May 17-19, 2007. Visit the OIVAC website for more information.
