One thing that I do to simplify my life is a pretty easy one to implement.

I buy those basic Hilroy scribblers, the 32 ruled page ones that everyone had in grade school. I have one for each of my clients, color coded of course :)

I keep them on my desk and bring them with me when I work at the kitchen table, they're always in front of me. When a client calls, I make notes in their scribbler. When I check messages or emails for that client, I put all comments and communication in their scribbler. This way I'm not searching the house for post it notes all day long. It really helps to have everything specific to one client in their own scribbler.

As tasks are completed I cross them out and I highlight pressing tasks. Every day I flip back through the past couple of days to ensure that nothing has been missed.

I also put all important contact information and passwords on the inside cover of the notebook so that I always have it as easy reference instead of searching.
