A note from the owner of Signature Worx, Connie McVicker, about the symbolism of the butterfly she has used in her branding
Your brand is more than your logo. It’s more than your logo, your website and your business cards all put together– it’s bigger than that.
I’ve written countless blog posts about everything that goes into a good brand and I don’t need to rewrite it all here. Let’s just say that when I create a brand for a business I’m looking at it from a deeper place than just fonts and colors. I look at the businesses goals and objectives, its target audience, its specialty services and products. I need to know the business inside and out so I can get in the head of its ideal client to create the most amazing brand possible.
Branding is strategic, see. Take the symbol I’ve used in my own branding – the butterfly.
What do you think of when you think of butterflies?
Let’s put it this way. If you were on Family Feud and you were asked the question, “Name a symbol of metamorphosis?” if you didn’t say butterfly, I’d like to know what the heck you would say.
As a branding expert who takes businesses through a visual metamorphosis, well, I couldn’t think of a better symbol for my brand than the butterfly.
The butterfly represents everything I want you (if you’re my ideal customer) to have in mind when you’re in the market for a big, brilliant new brand for your fuzzy little caterpillar business:
- Change
- Transformation
- A new stage
- Rebirth
- Evolving
No other creature on the planet goes through such a magnificent transformation during its lifetime as the butterfly. The butterfly emerging from its cocoon is unrecognizable from how it looked at the beginning of its life.
See how strong that connection is between branding and butterflies? That’s why I chose to use the symbolism that I did.
When I’m through with you and your rebranding process, I promise you that you’ll be beyond proud of your beautiful new wings and not to mention, you’ll be able to get a heck of a lot farther than you did as a caterpillar!
